From Data to Discovery: exquAIro’s Second AI & Data Bootcamp Concludes with Impactful Symposium

The second part of the exquAIro Medical AI Practitioner Program concluded successfully with the closing event of the AI & Data Bootcamp on Friday, January 24, 2025. This event marked the culmination of an intensive training period that began on October 7, 2024, and proved to be an exciting day of presentations and networking.

Highlights from the Mini Symposium

Throughout the program, participants were deeply engaged in the analytical process through a variety of case studies. These case studies explored topics ranging from the progression of COVID-19 illness to hospital effectiveness and (epi)genetic pathways. The Bootcamp focused on developing fundamental technical and analytical skills, such as data transformation, predictive modeling, and effective programming. Beyond these technical competencies, the program also emphasized the importance of collaboration, impactful analysis, and stakeholder persuasion.

Grant Proposals

A unique aspect of the Bootcamp is the development of grant proposals by the participants, for which the exquAIro foundation seeks funding. Participants had the opportunity to pitch these ideas at various moments throughout the program, culminating in a final presentation at the mini-symposium. Attendees included managers, colleagues, and invited guests from partner organisations as the UMCG Innovation Center and DASH, providing a broad audience for participants to demonstrate their progress and the outcomes of their case studies.

After the proposals are formally submitted, a committee will evaluate and score them. Following the selection process, one or two exquAIro pilot Grants will be awarded. Prof. Dr. Gerard Koppelman, chair of the board of exquAIro, remarked: “We are extremely proud of the high quality of work and the significant progress made by all participants of this second AI & Data Bootcamp. Given the exceptional standard of the proposals, I anticipate that selecting the grant recipients will be a challenging task.”

New Training

The mini-symposium not only showcased the participants’ exceptional work but also reinforced exquAIro’s commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration in the field of medical AI. New training sessions and bootcamps will begin in a few months. Additional information and registration details will be provided soon.
